Privacy Policy for Jot
Last updated: February 10, 2026
1. Summary
Jot is built so your notes remain your notes. We do not sell personal information or use your content for advertising. We do capture a limited set of anonymous usage analytics to improve product quality.
2. What We Collect
We collect minimal analytics events that are not tied to your identity or the content of your notes. Examples include:
- Onboarding progress events (for example, start, step completion, completion).
- A response you choose during onboarding about where you heard about Jot.
- Basic product interaction events (for example, feature flow completion).
3. What We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or account login credentials (Jot has no account login).
- Your note content, voice recordings, or AI-generated outputs for analytics purposes.
- Advertising profiles or cross-app tracking identifiers linked to your identity.
4. How Analytics Is Kept Anonymous
- Analytics are associated with an app instance, not a user account.
- We do not identify users by name, email, or other personal profile data in analytics events.
- Analytics are used only for aggregate measurement and product improvement.
5. Data Storage, Sync, and AI Processing
- Notes are stored locally on your device and synced through Apple's iCloud/CloudKit when enabled.
- We do not access your private iCloud data directly.
- When you use Brain Dump processing, input required for that feature may be sent to AI providers to generate structured output.
6. Third-Party Services
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit for user-controlled sync.
- Google Gemini for Brain Dump AI processing.
- PostHog for anonymous product analytics.
